Evaluating Collaborative Filtering Recommender Systems is a paper written by Jonathan Herlocker, Joseph Konstan, Loren Terveen and John Riedl.
This is one of the seminal papers in the area of recommender systems with hundreds of scientific and non-scientific citations. The paper describes some of the most popularly used evaluation measures, recommender scenarios (top-n, rating prediction, etc.) and evaluate those on datasets from different domains.
